Logo Explanation
The following is a brief explanation of the significance our logo contains. It is by no means exhaustive. There are many other scripture passages that support each bulleted point, and a few other minor theological points that can be made about each element of the logo. Such minor points are biblical, but not necessarily relevant to the whole church in general. Additionally, as you read through this and observe our new logo, you may even think of some other points that you could add to what already has been listed. Those may not be out of line either.
Our logo was adopted by the Leadership Team on July 13, 2006.
Whirlpool:
- Jesus is the living water (John 4:10)
- Feet in water | baptism (2 brethren distinctives) (John 13:1-17, Matthew 28:16-20)
- Our foundation is God (Love God) (Mark 12:28-34)
- Church is in the Fountain City—something practical to personalize who we are
People:
- We are a family church (we are Brethren)
- Husband / Wife are “one” (Genesis 2:24)
- We are here to Love Others (Mark 12:28-34)
- Emphasizes the faith community (body of Christ) (Eph. 4:1-16)
Cross:
- Our love for others allows Christ to be seen (Matthew 5:13-16)
- We are who we are because Christ died for us (Romans 5-6)
- Jesus is the Head of the Church, the highest authority (Eph. 1:22-23)
Splash:
- We are overflowing with God’s love for others (James 2:14-26, Matthew 7:15-23)
- Making disciples includes spilling Christ from within us (1 John 3:11-24)
- Our relationship with Christ flows outward (Amos 5:24)
- The Brethren Church uses grapes to symbolize what’s inside of us to symbolize the same thing (Luke 6:43-45)
Big 3:
- Whirlpool: We are here to Love God (Mark 12:28-34)
- People: We are here to Love Others (Mark 12:28-34)
- Splash/Cross: We are here to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:16-20)
