Sam began serving the BFBC June 26, 2005, having previously served the Garber Brethren Church in Ashland, OH as an Associate Pastor. Sam brings a passion for helping people get connected with Jesus Christ in a way that makes sense to them and helping them find joy while participating in the Lord's work.

Sam grew up in a rural Amish community in Goshen, IN. He graduated from Anderson University (B.S.) and Ashland Theological Seminary (M.Div). Sam was ordained in 2006 by the Brethren Church (BC).

Sam is married to Nicole who is in nursing school completing an RN degree. Sam and Nicole have three daughters: Abigail, Hannah, and Mallory. Sam enjoys spending time with his girls, softball, fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing with his dog ("Chloe"), researching new technology available online, as well as watching Da Bears & Notre Dame football on the weekends.

Pastor Sam is at home in leadership/service contexts serving in many capacities beyond First Brethren. He currently serves as Marketing Director of MissioChurch (a church planting organization), a member of the Indiana District Missions Ministry, and as an officer for Community Advocates for Healthy Families (CAHF).

Sam's life verse is Habakkuk 3:2. Motivation for ministry comes to Sam from the Great Commission and the Great Commandments.

Brent joined us in late October of 2009 with experience in youth ministry at two other churches. Born in Lima, OH, and a graduate of Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN, Brent was able to stay an Ohio State fan despite the heavy Notre Dame crowd while in school. Pastor Sam still thinks there's hope for him yet. We'll see!

Brent is married to Kara Sloan and they have two beautiful little girls Riley and Brogan.
