Timothy Project
The Timothy Project is under development and should start on its own sometime in 2012. We have already begun this organically and now that people are beginning to share their life with others in a strategic manner, we're looking to equip, encourage, and empower more people to jump in.
The Timothy Project gets its concept from the intentional mentoring relationship between Paul and Timothy. Timothy was Paul's apprentice and followed him in ministry, learning the ropes, and getting hands-on experience in the field. Paul and Timothy shared common backgrounds, had similar interests, and embraced similar calls in ministry. Paul took Timothy under his wing to disciple him and help him take his next steps in following Jesus.
We have seasoned veterans in our church who have been on the Christian journey longer than others. They have experienced life, traveled the twists and turns that following Jesus entails. They're ready to begin sharing the path others will travel in an intentional and helpful way.
When individuals have decided to take their faith journey to the next level, matches will be made either naturally or with help. Matches will be based on as much of the following as possible:
- Similar passions
- Similar interests
- Similar ministry call
- Similar spiritual gifts
- Similar approach to life
Opportunities will be given by the church to help pairs experience ministry together, giving contexts for hands-on learning to occur, attend conferences together, or share meals together on a semi-regular basis.
This is for people of all ages and it's not necessarily an adult-youth pairing, but can also be adult-adult pairing or in some cases, youth-child or youth-youth pairing. Pairs will always be of the same gender.
