Senior Pastor Luke and Emily Nagy
Pastor Luke Nagy is married to his wonderful wife Emily, and they have been blessed by God with six children. Luke and Emily are lifelong residents of northwest Ohio. Luke grew up in rural Fulton County and Emily is from Toledo. They have lived in Bryan for over a decade.
Luke has been the pastor at Bryan First Brethren Church since 2019. In that time, he has sought to foster a community of believers who love each other and can receive all that God has for them through challenging messages, Spirit-filled corporate prayer, weekly communion, laying on of hands, anointing the sick with oil, and carrying each other’s burdens. He believes the purpose of the local church is to disciple disciples to disciple disciples. A gifted preacher, teacher, and writer, he strives to ensure that Christians are fed a steady diet of biblically sound, theologically rich, and practically relevant truth.
Luke also has a love for the people of God across churches and denominations working together and has served as the President of the Bryan Area Ministerial Association since 2021.
Luke holds a Master of Theology (ThM) degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. His degree is in Systematic Theology. His master’s thesis was supervised by Dr. J. Lanier Burns and was titled: An Interface of Contemporary Neuroscience and Theological Anthropology. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Systematic Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. Luke had previously served as an Associate Pastor at Inlet Mennonite Church in Wauseon, Ohio, and as an interim-pastor at Swan Creek Church of the Brethren in Delta, Ohio.
Luke also spent many years as a Campus Life Director with Defiance Area Youth for Christ, serving in Archbold, and all over NW Ohio. In his spare time Luke enjoys chess, cooking, literature, as well as umpiring High School Baseball. Emily is a hardworking homeschooling mom. She is the volunteer and special events coordinator with LifeWise Academy, Bryan as well as the director of the Bryan Area Christian Co-op. Her hobbies are sleep, when the opportunity arises, reading cozy mystery novels, baking, and crafting.
